Carmel Pak U Secondary School is a government-subsidized school founded by the Evangelical School Development Incorporation Limited in 1979. English is the main medium of  instruction. The campus is located in central Tai Po and equipped with fine facilities, including a computerized library and multi-media learning centre, a language laboratory, and a design laboratory. The green campus is tranquil and spacious, with basketball courts, running tracks, a badminton court, a mini football field and a fitness room.

The school is founded on the Christian faith with the noble aim of providing students with the Christian whole-person education in order to cater for their moral, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic and spiritual needs. In light of Luke 2:52 in the Bible, four committees, namely, Academic Affairs, Discipline & Moral Education, Religious Activities and Extra-curricular Activities, have been formed to develop students in wisdom, in stature and in favour with God and men. Additionally, Guidance and Award Scheme Committee has been set  up to guide students to balanced growth and acknowledge their attainments through the CPU Award Scheme.
